It's been a week since the trouncing of candidates strong on national security. FSM Contributing Editor Mark Taylor thinks that the voters who decided that the quest for an unsecured peace was more important than our nation's security deserve what they got.
You Get What You Deserve

The liberal media is euphoric with excitement over the recent elections.
One needs only to log onto Yahoo News, Google News or watch any of the major networks, including CNN, to see the reporters and reporterettes salivating over the possibility of a withdrawal from Iraq, victory for the Islamic fascists, higher taxes and more Federal gimme programs.
Statistically speaking, the win for the Democrats should not be of a big surprise to any of us. With many Americans still getting their news from those mentioned above, it appears the War on Terror is going poorly, the government is “spying” on Aunt Martha calling you on her cell phone and the Republicans want to take away your “freebies”, which the working taxpayers are paying for. Why bother to look at both sides? It would require work and time better spent watching “Dancing with the Stars” and viewing the latest celebrity embarrassments on YouTube.
Ignoring the basic differences of Communism and Capitalism, your children are being taught that the government owes them a check just for being alive. They are owed free health care, free food, free everything. Why should you get married, work hard, buy a home, have children? By omitting the first three, the government will just give you a check.
While ignoring the fact that military recruitment is exceeding expected goals, the media pound the “Daily Death Toll in Iraq” down our throats. Rarely do you read about the heroism and excellence of our military. With increasing frequency, the media hypes their propaganda against Halliburton, President Bush and all who oppose them. They latch onto anyone with anything negative to say about our contractors, the war, our country.
If you voted for candidates with weak credentials on national security, when our country is being destroyed from within because we have no backbone to fight an enemy indoctrinated with years of hate-filled propaganda, you deserve what you voted for.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t a “Republican” versus “Democrat” issue. We must bypass “political correctness” and retain clarity and moral compass. Only when we realize we are in a fight for our very survival and act accordingly will we win.
